POSITION SUMMARY
The Investment Officer supports the management of investment portfolios, conducts investment research and analysis across asset classes, monitors financial markets, and contributes to investment decision-making processes. The role prepares investment recommendations, assists in portfolio management and advisory activities, and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and internal investment guidelines. The Investment Officer also supports investment advisory services and business development initiatives related to the firm’s investment products and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Investment Research & Analysis
- Conduct fundamental, quantitative, and qualitative analysis of listed and unlisted opportunities across equities, fixed income, collective investment schemes, and alternative investments.
- Monitor economic, political, and market developments affecting portfolios; prepare financial models, valuation analyses, investment memoranda, and industry/company research.
Portfolio Management Support
- Track portfolio performance against benchmarks and objectives; prepare portfolio review reports and performance attribution analyses.
- Recommend rebalancing actions and monitor compliance with investment mandates, risk limits, and regulatory requirements.
Market Operations
- Support execution of securities transactions in line with client mandates and internal policies; monitor trading activity and market movements.
- Maintain relationships with brokers, custodians, issuers, and market participants; assist in preparing daily market updates and commentaries.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Participate in meetings with institutional and high-net-worth clients; prepare investment proposals, presentations, and client reports.
- Respond to client investment inquiries and support onboarding and investment suitability assessments.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Monitor market, credit, liquidity, and concentration risks; ensure activities comply with applicable regulations, fund mandates, and internal policies.
- Assist with regulatory reporting, compliance documentation, and internal/external audit requirements.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare periodic investment reports, board papers, investment committee reports, and fund fact sheets; maintain accurate investment records.
- Support product development initiatives and investment strategy reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Investment Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CISI, CFA, FMVA or progress toward such certifications – will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in investment management, research, brokerage, corporate finance, or related financial services.
- Experience analyzing financial statements and investment securities, with familiarity with capital markets and investment products.
