Position Title: IT Officer
Reports to: Head of ICT
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Role Purpose
The IT Officer will be responsible for providing technical support, maintaining IT infrastructure, ensuring system availability, and assisting in the implementation of ICT policies and solutions to support APeF’s business operations. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can troubleshoot effectively, safeguard information systems, and support both end-users and business applications.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure & Support
- Provide first and second-line support for hardware, software, network, and end user issues.
- Maintain company servers, storage, firewalls and other IT assets.
- Maintain and support new VPN connections to third party stakeholders
- Maintain and support biometric access control devices
- Install, configure, and update operating systems, applications, and security patches.
- Monitor system performance and network availability.
2. IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Support the IT Manager in implementing ICT strategies and projects.
- Document IT processes, incidents, and resolutions.
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Liaise with external service providers (ISPs, software vendors, hardware suppliers, etc.).
3. Business Continuity & Risk Management
- Participate in business continuity planning and disaster recovery testing.
- Ensure critical IT systems have redundancy and backups.
- Identify potential IT risks and escalate to management.
4. Other responsibilities
- As assigned by line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant work experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT-operations.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), CCNA, ITIL, or cybersecurity certifications) will be an added advantage.
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments is an advantage.
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of enterprise network and architecture
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems, MS Office 365, and common enterprise applications.
- Understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPNs).
- Familiarity with database management (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
